PLC Calendar of Events 2012-2013 Updated 4/20
I am still working on specific party information; all children will receive an award during the year; some for pretzels or lunch with Mr. K, others for displaying good character; you can't have both. Information subject to change, and items may be added. Specific information will always be on the peek of the week.
SEPTEMBER
Sept. 5-7: half days of school; 1:00 dismissal
Sept. 11: PTA ice cream social from 4:00-5:30 on the playground
Sept. 13: WriteOn! workshop 6:00 in the gym; a must for parents who wish to volunteer and help out in the classroom
Sept. 17-21 is Spirit Week: Monday wear red clothes, Tues. orange, Wed. purple & brown, Thurs. green, Fri. blue & gold
Sept. 19: Mad Science Assembly
Sept. 28: lunch with the principal (1 student)
OCTOBER
Oct 1: Back to school night at 6:00
Oct. 1-5: Respect Week
Oct. 8-12: Fire Prevention Week
Oct. 15: pretzels with the principal (1 student); book buddies
Oct. 15-19: Violence and vandalism awareness week
Oct. 26: lunch with the principal (1 student)
Oct. 30: Lifetouch class photos
Oct. 31: Everyone is welcome to see the Halloween Parade at 12:30. Following the parade only parents allowed back in the classroom are parent of Joseph, Jacob, Gabriel, and Christian. Children will bring costume to school in a bag in the morning; we'll change after lunch so keep it simple please.
NOVEMBER
Nov. 5-9: School closed; NJEA Convention
Nov. 12-13: American Education Visits (AM)
Nov. 13: 1st marking period ends
Nov. 14: Officer Phil Assembly
Nov. 16: lunch with the principal (1 student); I Can checklist sent home
Nov. 19: book buddies
Nov. 22 & 23: Thanksgiving recess; school closed

100th day of school; not a party but fun "100" activities; date to be determined!
Feb. 11: Chinese New Year with Kylie's mom
Feb. 13: STAC; Muppets performance
Feb. 14: Valentine's Day party; with parent Kira, Masin, Grant, and Kendal
Feb. 15: half day of school with 1:00 dismissal; staff in-service
Feb. 18: school open for President's Day

MARCH
Mar. 1: Dr. Seuss Day with parent of Olivia and Charlie. Children travel to other classrooms for Dr. Seuss stories. Dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character.

Mar. 12: In-coming kindergarten meeting 7:00pm at STAC
Mar. 15: "I Can" progress reports sent home

April 8: Reader's theater begins
April 11: artist Mark Kistler at STAC in the morning

April 19: 3rd marking period report cards issued
April 23: half day of school with 1:00 dismissal; staff in-service
April 24-26: Kindergarten round-up
April 25: class trip to Insectropolis
April 26: Arbor Day Show put on by 3 classes; we are audience members
April 29: lunch with the principal (1 student)
MAY
May 2: Q & U Wedding at 1:30 with Mrs. Wyrsch, Ms. Bosland, Mrs. Manganiello, and Mrs. McAllister; fancy affair with nice outfits and best manners
May 10: Land of the Letter People Day; children dress up as their favorite Letter Person
May 17: pretzels with the principal (1 student)
May 20: half day of school with 1:00 dismissal; staff in-service
May 20-24: Spirit Week: Mon. is Hawaiian shirt day, Tues. backwards clothes, Wed. class spirit (dress as a firefly) , Thurs. bring small stuffed toy, Fri. red, white, & blue clothes
May 21-23: Kindergarten Registration
May 24: lunch with the principal (1 student)
May 27: school closed for Memorial Day
JUNE
June 3: Million Minute Madness at STAC
June 5: trip to Ocean Acres School to visit first grade
June 6: of year kindergarten show practice at STAC
June 7: of year kindergarten show and awards assembly at STAC 9:45-10:30; everyone is invited, no tickets or assigned seating
June 7: end of year family picnic following the end of year show. Families are invited back to the PLC for outside games and activities; then lunch together outside at the picnic tables and finally an indoor presentation in our classroom. This event is only for younger siblings not school age siblings; however younger children can not play the field day activities due to insurance policies. Parents bring lunch for the family. Things should wrap up about 1:30. The children will have lots to bring home on this day and you may take your child home with you!! In the event of rain, everything will be done in the gym.
June 14: last day of school with 1:00 dismissal; report cards issued
