Appendix A: Facilities Infrastructure Details

The district’s infrastructure includes high-speed (Category 5) cabling in all buildings combined

with 802.11b and 802.11g wireless to allow for 100 Mbps wired and 11 or 54 Mbps wireless

communications throughout the network. Communications between buildings is handled by

Cisco networking equipment. The McKinley campus, including the McKinley School, the

Intermediate School, the Primary Learning Center, and the Arts Center, is inter-connected via

high speed fiber. The Oxycocus School, Ocean Acres School, and the Administration Campus

are connected by a 100Mbps wireless WAN.

A central data center houses district-wide services which include:

2 x T-1 internet access

Internet filtering service

E-mail services

Intranet / internet site

Transportation database system (VersaTrans)

Finance system (System 3000)

Community Email Notification System (in-house customized web application)

Centralized backups

Servers in each building support local file storage, print services, DHCP/DNS services and

network authentication.

Currently the district has standardized on Microsoft Windows-based network services and

clients. This allows for tighter integration and a simpler user experience.
