Stafford Township School District

Stafford Township School District Public School Choice Program

AT THIS TIME, THE STATE HAS NOT RELEASED THE TIMELINES TO APPLY  FOR THE 2015-16 SCHOOL YEAR. WE WILL POST AS SOON AS WE HAVE THE INFORMATION.

Please Note: Participation of new students in the 2014-15 school year will depend upon the availability of funding and whether the program is reauthorized by the New Jersey State Legislature.

Students from other public schools are welcome to apply to attend Stafford Township Schools for grades K through 6 for the 2014-15 school year.

The regulations governing the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program have been established by the State. The steps that must be taken and the documents that must be submitted in order for a student to participate in the school choice program are listed below.  For more information here is a link to the NJDOE's Student Application Process for Parents and Students:  http://www.state.nj.us/education/choice/parents/process.htm

The District currently has 6 openings for the 2014-15 school year. This is for all grade levels.  If more than 6 applications are received, it will be necessary for the district to hold a lottery for these 6 openings.  Preference is given to students applying who already have siblings enrolled in the choice program.

NOTE: When making your decision, please be aware that transportation may not be provided for your student. Depending on the circumstances, the resident district may provide aid in lieu of transportation. (Visit the NJ Department of Education’s transportation procedures for more information.)

About our School Choice Program:

This innovative program addresses and fosters multiple intelligences while simultaneously attending to the implementation of the core curriculum content standards in visual and performing arts. The core curriculum content standards mandate that all students acquire skills that increase aesthetic awareness in dance, music, theater and visual arts. Students are required to create, to produce, to critique, to design and to identify the historical, social and cultural influences and traditions that have generated artistic accomplishments.

Believing that students demonstrate intelligence in a variety of different ways, the Stafford Township School District will provide numerous opportunities to develop these multiple intelligences. By extending offerings in visual and performing arts the district will better promote and foster the development of these intelligences and more accurately attend to the needs, interests and abilities of all students.

School choice program students may be offered opportunities to participate in a variety of visual and performing arts activities including theater, dance, improvisation, choreography, rhythmic analysis, musical composition, and communications. Students with identified interests and abilities will also participate in extended day experiences designed to enhance and extend specific skills and talents.
