Dr. Judith DeStefano-Anen

Dr. Judith DeStefano-Anen has been with our school district since the Summer of 2000.  Before coming to Stafford School District she worked for 26 years in the Lakewood Public Schools in several different capacities including special education teacher, reading specialist, and administrator. She holds a Doctorate of Education in Early and Middle Childhood and has presented at numerous national conferences on topics such as professional development, leadership, and early interventions.

Dr. Judee, as she is often referred to in district, also has worked as an Adjunct Professor at Georgian Court University and believes that the best way to learn something new is to try and teach it.  Dr. Judee became Superintendent of the Stafford Township School District as of January 1, 2010.

Superintendent's Message for JUNE 2010

Parents and guardians often look for simple, worthwhile activities that their children can do to support their reading and math skills during the summer months. We have developed a number of resources that include fun activities that promote development in reading, math, and science and we encourage all families to make use of them.

Summer packets, which are full of specific grade-level activities, will be available in the lobby of each school, the Administration Building, and Educational Services Building at the end of the school year.

You can visit the Instructional Services page of our website to download summer reading lists and instructional handbooks which include "do anytime" activities.

The July and August pages of this year’s Handbook & Calendar contain fun summer activities for your child.

I hope all of our Stafford families enjoy a safe and relaxing summer and that you return in September refreshed and ready to begin another productive year. Please remember, if your child will be attending a different school in September, you need to update your CENS account so that you do not miss any important school news.

Lastly, I sincerely wish all of our 6th grade students continued success as they move on to the next phase of their education at Southern Regional Middle School.

"Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally."

District Profile

The Stafford Township School District is a K-6 district located in Stafford Township, Ocean County, NJ. The district consists of five separate buildings serving a student population of approximately 2,500 pupils in Grades Pre-K through 6th Grade. Our newest building, the Primary Learning Center (PLC), was completed and opened in September 2006. The Primary Learning Center serves pupils in Pre-K and Kindergarten from throughout the district. Both the Ocean Acres School and the Oxycocus School serve children in grades 1 and 2. The McKinley Ave. School serves students in grades 3 and 4, and the Intermediate School serves students in grades 5 and 6. A new addition physically connecting  the McKinley Ave School and the Intermediate School was completed during the 2005-2006 school year. This "connector wing" provided over 10 additional classrooms, including Distance Learning and Synergistic labs. The addition of the PLC and the "connector" wing classrooms allowed for significant class size reduction to benefit the learning of all of our students.

As part of the "connector" construction process, an auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 800 was included in the plans and was also completed during the 2005-2006 School Year. A direct bonus to the Stafford Community as a whole was the inclusion of the Stafford Township Education Foundation, which has provided significant lighting and sound upgrades to the auditorium at no cost to the taxpayers. These Foundation funded upgrades have turned our auditorium into the state of the art Stafford Township Arts Center (STAC.)

The Stafford Township Schools serve students from many areas within Stafford Township, including Ocean Acres, Warren Grove, Beachview, Mayetta, Cedar Run, Beach Haven West, Colony Lakes, Village Harbor, and Cedar Bonnet Island. The Stafford Township Schools offer a broad academic curriculum designed to meet the needs of all of its students. Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics are stressed at each grade level. Art and music classes, physical education, as well as computer and library skills are part of every student's schedule at the elementary level. To provide students with assistance and opportunities for success, the Stafford Township School District has many services, such as a district-wide guidance program, Basic Skills remedial instruction, and a comprehensive range of special education programs.
