Superintendent’s Message – November 2014
Wow! Is it November already? Just a few short months ago we were welcoming all the students to a new fun filled educational school year and here we are about to embark on our fall break, holiday season and some very exciting programs.
The latter part of November will be bustling with the celebration of not only Thanksgiving but also American Education Week and parent teacher conferences. All are very important in one way or another.
American Education Week begins on November 17th and ends November 21st. During this week there will be scheduled activities at each school. I encourage every parent/guardian to attend your child’s school and see firsthand all the wonderful things we are doing in our classrooms. Each school will have specific dates and times that you are able to visit.
Parent teacher conferences are scheduled November 21, 24, and 25th. These 3 days are early dismissals for your child. This will allow you the perfect opportunity to visit with your child’s teacher and to see what great things are going on in your child’s classroom. It is proven that communication between the parent and the teacher result in higher grades and test scores and also increases motivation, positive attitudes and behaviors.
Your attendance during American Education Week and your child’s parent teacher conference conveys to the students the importance of school and their education. We all hope you make every effort to attend both these events.
I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you are all surrounded by your family and friends as a perfect send off to this busy month. Enjoy!
