THE McKINLEY MAKERSPACE
Starting in October, you will have one MAKERSPACE session
each month during our regularly scheduled art class!
Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they engage deeply in science, engineering and tinkering. A Makerspace is not solely a science lab, woodshop, computer lab or art room, but it may contain elements found in all of these familiar spaces.
This year, we will be focusing on using more recycled materials to encourage our students to reduce, reuse and repurpose. As you are cleaning out your closets, garages, basements, hobby rooms, etc., please consider donating to our very creative and worthy cause! There is a cardboard box in the vestibule of our school where you can drop off recyclable items or your child can bring them into school to drop off in the art room.
Here is a list of items we are frequently in need of:
wrapping paper * ribbon * popsicle sticks * buttons
straws * masking tape * scrapbook paper * beads * strings
googly eyes * pom poms * duct tape * aluminum foil rolls
paper tubes * fabric * bottle caps * cardboard * colored tape
plastic containers * shoe boxes * stickers * paper plates
If you have any questions about what is needed/acceptable for donations, please email:
