    Peek of the Week
  • Hello!  It's Mrs. Callahan!  Unfortunately, we are still unable to attend school right now.   If your child normally receives free or reduced breakfast and lunch, that will still be available  for pick up on Monday at McKinley Avenue School!  The district has sent out information regarding that and the borrowing of ipads/computers.  If you have any questions, please contact me!  If you are having a hard time logging on to Google Meet with your child's staffordschools.org account, please go to the McKinley Avenue School cafeteria on Monday from 10-6 for technology help!

Remember to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns!  I will be available from 8am-3pm each school day!  You can reach me at my school email of rcallahan@staffordschools.org , at my home number 609-978-8768, or by my cell phone 609-618-9083.  I will call and email each family as often as possible.  I will also have Mrs. Dreher checking in, as well!

Also, please note that for the Scholastic Learn at Home site we are going to the Kindergarten activities now!!!!!

Additionally, note that you can substitute ABC Mouse for Reading Eggs.  Do whichever your child prefers now!

    1.  Go Math at Think Central.  Today's assignment is Quiz 1.  It is K.OA.A 1 Quiz.  It has eigth problems.  You can complete this  quiz on line or use the papers I gave you.  It is in the Week 10 packet of math pages.

    2.   Also, have someone give you a couple of addition problems to solve.  Do 5 problems.

    Writing

Each day your child will have a writing assignment.  Use the journal I dropped off. Your child will draw a picture on the left and write a few sentences about the topic on the right.  Turn to the next clean page each day.  Please ONLY use pencil and crayons in the journals (no markers).  You can go to Scholastic Learn at Home site to listen to today's read aloud and for additional optional activities.

    1.    Today's theme is Seasons.  Write what you like to do in Spring.

    Fundations

Included in this packet are 4 sheets to use with the Fundations Lesson.  Please keep these in a safe spot because your child will need to use them multiple times.  The first page is an alphabet flash card page.  The letter cards need to be cut apart and placed in the enclosed baggie.  Please have an adult cut the cards out, they are small and your child needs to see the whole letter.  The second page is the Basic Keywords Chart.  Your child will review this chart daily by tapping the card and saying the letter, the picture and the sound. (ex.; Aa, apple, aaaaa.)  The third page is the Fundations Digraphs.  This page is done the same way as the Keyword Chart, (ex. Ch, chin, chhhhh.)  The last page is the Vowel Chart.  The students will tap and say the vowel, slide their finger along the wavy line and say the sound and end by naming the picture.  (ex. A, aaaaaaapple, aaaa.)  These are the materials needed to complete the lessons below.

Use the Basic Keyword Chart, have your child randomly point to a letter on the chart.  Now your child should say the letter, picture and sound.  Have your child repeat the same process 9 more times, picking 10 letters total.  Use the Vowel Chart and the Diagraph Chart to review each sound.  Take out the flash card baggie.  Or, you can use a piece of paper or the "white plastic covered board"!   Have your child make words for:  ship, rich, the, why, and duck.  Use the words:  of and have to make  sentences.  Say the sentences to an adult.  Finally, have someone dictate this sentence Rob bit the fig.  Have your child write that sentence.  Be sure they begin the sentence with an capital letter and end with puctuation.
